Hi all

I am brand spanking new to the whole scenery design thing. I installed FSX SDK and have the latest FSUIPC and WideFS along with ADE9X. The instruction manual isn't really a whole lot of help so I need help using it. I mean start from the very beginning. The biggest problem I have at the moment is when I try to Connect to FSX via ADE, it keeps flashing a message that the aircraft is more than 65NM away from the airport, and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I appreciate any of the help you can give me.

The only way I can replicate your repeat message is if I have FSX running but have not started a flight session (still in the opening menus).

Before trying to connect from ADE, you must start an FSX flight (Fly Now), preferrably at the airport you are going to edit. You should be in 'Slew' mode (press Y to toggle 'Slew' mode).

If you've already done this and are still getting the repeat message there may be a problem with simconnect or other required element:

-Run the ADE Environment Checker (Start>Programs>Airport Design Editor 9X>) to see if it reports any problems.

-If you have updated FSX with any Service Packs, make sure you have updated the SDK as well-http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_(FSX)

-Check that you have the latest version of ADE (ADE menu>Help>Check for update).

-Ask for help at the ADE support forum-http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=95-Though the author (Scruffyduck) stops by SimV, you might get quicker solution there. Include your FSX and SDK versions installed and your Windows version.

We did see this problem some times with an earlier version of ADE.  However we have not had any reports of this with 1.47.

Provided that you have the same airport loaded in FSX and ADEX I am not sure what would be going wrong.  If you do not have the latest version of ADE (1.47.07) then we do need to get you updated.  If you do then perhaps you can describe exactly how you are getting started.  Are you for example creating a new airport that you have not compiled to FSX at all yet?

I cannot find 1.47.07 on the website. It looks like it only goes up to .06. I downloaded the full version from ScruffyDuck (1.45). Maybe someone can help me?

1.47 comes from the online update.  If you have downloaded and installed 1.45.  Get 1.46 and copy the files from the download into your 1.45 installation.  That will get you 1.46.  From the 1.46 help menu choose Check For Updates.  You should be offered 1.47.  Accept the update and ADE will automatically update itself with the latest version.
