Gauge Question

I've been modifying a panel with FS Panel Studio, and I have a question: When I install a tachometer, check the gauge with the subject aircraft, and go to full throttle the Tachometer needle moves to full power. When I throttle back the needle won't decrease with the throttle; it stays at Max.

Any insights?

Thanks!

Is it possible that your testing this in an airplane with a constant speed prop?

If so, the throttle will not have as much of an affect on the tach as with a fixed pitch prop.

What plane are you using?

cheers,
Joe

The aircraft is Tim Conrad's Lockheed Model 34 Big Dipper, with a fixed pitch prop. The problem is that once the tachometer reaches max, it sticks. Even when I decrease the throttle to idle, the tachometer still stays at max. power. I even tried the digital tach out of the Extra 300 just for grins... same thing.

Thanks!

Yep, looks like that plane has a constant speed prop.

RPM's are controlled by the prop control, not the throttle.

the model I looked at was model_34.zip from Flightsim.com

JoBee,

Thanks for the reply! So it's a matter of adjusting prop control with the throttle? I never thought of that! Now I have something to go on... much appreciated!

Alan

UPDATE: That solved the problem! Obviously not a gauge problem, but a case of 'pilot error'... Thanks JoBee for the advice!
