Static Aircraft ??

Postby Capt.Propwash » Mon Apr 06, 2009 8:34 pm

First off I mainly fly FS9.1; Real Environment Pro; Ultimate Night Environment.  I have Afcad221, Rwy_12, AND EZScenery....  I was wondering how i could make some Static Aircraft Scenery at my airports.

1 airport in particular is KCHS (which i have a modified Afcad for) and I never have any flights in or out of there by AI.  I just want something on the ground to look at when I fly in or out.   On any given day at the real life Air Force base at that location, there are about 30 C-17's lined up waiting for deployment.... in my sim there are 0 (zero).  also there are 3 GA airports/Hangars, each with about 45 craft sitting around...... again in sim.... ZERO.

I do not know if i need TTools to create a "nothing" AI file.... as in the plane would start at that airport, and have an indeffinate downtime OR... i could make a flight plan to an Airbase that is only 1 hr away and have another on a return flight so that it always appears there are planes there.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

This might get moved to the AI Traffic section...static aircraft could be added using Instant Scenery, but requires finding appropriate scenery objects or creating your own and then placing them. The aircraft would (of course) never move, and eventually the novelty would likely wear off. It's actually easier to create your own flightplans and add AI aircraft using addon repaints available from many sources. One good site to check out is http://www.militaryaiworks.com/, they have small packages created for separate areas or air forces. By simply installing most of their US packages, there will be some military traffic at KCHS, taking all the work out of it except for the download & installation process. Once having gotten the hang of using TTools, custom traffic.bgl files can be added, including touch & go's (essentially, the aircraft would always remain at the same airport as mentioned above, just take the occasional 'spin' around it). It's quite addicting and once started on it, you will likely find yourself wanting to add more authentic traffic (or traffic where none exists by default) to all sorts of places.

i have an addon scenery for KDOV Dover AFB where someone had put a line of C-5's on the tarmac that do absolutely NOTHING.  they just sit there.

I just thought i might be able to put like 5 C-17's at KCHS and a few other airports as well as Cessna 172's over on the GA side of things.

--- MilitaryAIWorks.com  ... do you know if they are self-installers that will auto install the flight plans as well? or do I still need TTools??

Hello, the packages at http://www.militaryaiworks.com/ can be installed in similar manner to World-of-AI (autoinstalled). Many have enhanced scenery and voicepack callsigns as well, which can be added if desired, or else just use the aircraft & flightplans, the latter which come ready to go.

Sending off a pm if interested in a quick start.
