How to write a timer into an XML gauge?

Hi all.

I want to build a timer (counting in seconds) into an XML gauge, so that it triggers an event at the end of a given time. Can anyone give me a clue how to go about it?

Don't worry - I solved it; one of those very nice people at the FFDS forum suggested a way forward.
