Is there a way to take out trees in a certain area of FSX?

Take an AFCAD program and put an exclusion rectangle  over the unwanted trees.  Don't forget to put a checkmark on the trees box

Yea, I'm using Airport Design Editor, but I don't see a tree checkmark for the exclusions area.

I believe that in ADE, you can create a terrain polygon and specify properties for the polygon that will remove the autogen trees.

Here is a topic in the ADE support forum at FSDeveloper.com that discusses the issue. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10647&highlight=remove+autogen

In FSX (unlike FS9) you cannot remove autogen trees using an exclusion rectangle.  To do this you need a terrain exclusion.  You are correct that ADE can do this.  It can also be done using SBuilderX or FSX KML
