Airfield background grass textures

Postby Springer6 » Mon Oct 06, 2008 1:24 pm

I have designed and added several airfields to FS9 using a combination of AFCAD and FSSC . adding runways , taxiways and comms details with AFCAD and buildings macros with FSSC is not a problem. However one problem is the background.
If I use AFCAD or FSSC to produce a polygon and colour it with a texture, that texture remains un affected by seasonal changes.

If I look a some airfields that Microsoft have deleted (eg's RAF Machrahinish and RAF West Freugh in Scotland (both supposedly Black ops sites ( Halo Aurora etc ) , they use a grass background texture that is subdued and it changes with season and gets covered in snow.

I have been reduced to using fixed textures or superimposing the runways etc over the existing textures. This latter is especially a problem when using grass runways as the airfield does not stand out from the air.

Any suggestions anyone?

SBuilder can provide the tools for that (and many more).

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Dave thanks for the advice , which I have followed to the letter and also the Jay Langham advice you refer to.
I have the four zip files and installed them as Jay suggests.
However when I get as far as revision 5 I can start the programme, but when I try to create a new project the message "error 338; Component TABCTL32.ocx or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

I have tried the silacom-tech link but the page is not available.

When I install the revision 6 and try to start the programme, I get  the message "Run-time error "9"  Subscript out of range.

I have tried this numerous times , but always with the same results.

Any suggestions?

The first is referring to a missing Active X control that is needed.

Search your Windows drive for 'TABCTL32.ocx'.
