At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

The FS2004 SDK will not work.. ADE needs the resources within the FSX-SDK.

There is an FS9-Afcad to FSX  converter utility available, but I have never used it. Of course it won't give you FSX xpecific airport elements

I only know of 1 airport design program for FSX that does not require the SDK.

Flight 1's AFX.....

Payware, but there is a demo available. The demo is the full version, but limited to 50 miles around KSEA.

The SDK isn't a 'tiny lil' thing', but I agree. Don't know why they decided to make it 'payware' in FSX.

Dave is correct  ADE uses two parts of the FSX SDK.  The FS9 one will not work.  I agree it is a shame that they did not make it freely available as the FS9 one is, but there we are I'm sorry to say.

Scruffy well the whole thing im guessing is made by you since its the scruffy duck company but I can make a BGL if I can save thew ADE file as a XML (Ive tried but its not full i read the example XML with all the info for a BGL, all the info for my XML isn tthere because I couldnt save it properly) so is there anyway to save a ADe as a XML with ADe Home Edition (mine is 1.00)

I am not sure I understand.  How are you planning to make the bgl file.  You cannot use the BglComp that comes with FS9 only the one that comes with the FSX SDK.  Also you cannot open an ade file with Notepad - it is not xml and you may do a lot of damage if you change anything in it.

You are also using an old version of ADE - the latest is 1.22.  You need to download version 1.20 from AVSIM or the Airport Design Editor Site and then apply the update patch (either get it from ADE 1.20 using the online update or by getting it from AVSIM0.  After all that you can arrange for 1.22 to leave the XML used to compile but once again I have to say that the only compiler that is going to work is the one from the FSX SDK
