Tree Problem

Hi everyone,

Can someone tell me how to get rid of autogen trees. I have a couple of big trees placed right at the end of a bush strip I fly into and these trees make the first 25% of the runway unusable.

Is there an easy way to remove them? I have no experience in doing anything like this.

Thanks

If for FSX, there has been a file at AVSIM for several months that will "trim the trees" from every airport automatically.

File Description:
This set of files will remove trees near runways for every airport supplied as standard with FSX. Some rural airports have trees right up to the threshold, making them rather tricky to use! This package removes trees from an area five times the runway width.

Unfortunately its for FS9 and it isn't a default airstrip but one I downloaded.

Thanks anyway, does anyone have any other ideas?

The method used to remove scenery objects, including autogen trees, is to create an 'Exclude rectangle'. Here are 2 utilities that will do this for FS9.

#1- FlattEx. This utility will generate lines of code that you will paste into

Is there a way to create exclude .bgl's that cover odd shapes and not just rectangles in N, S, E, W orientation?

Or is it fashionable to use lots of small rectangles working around odd shapes?

For FSX, use SBuilderX to create a polygon  to remove trees and autogen from an area.

Thanks GB,

I'm having a lot of difficulty adding a simple airstrip, so far, (4 days and nights) I have not had any success in flattening or excludes or simconnect working or polygon textures working, or background images or anything.

The only thing I got to work so far was a flatten using FSSC which isn't even supposed to work for FSX.

If I don't have any success today, I'll start another thread because I'm not used to this level of punishment.

I'd like to create .bgl based scenery, no config edits required to install the scenery, just to be able to add it under scenery library without further ado.

Edit: It seems SBuilderX won't run because it can't find FSX on this computer, which is odd because I just did a fresh and valid FSX install :P

I followed SBuilderX's pdf instructions for installation.

hehe...just noticed I used my Aces High\Air Warrior tag ( =GB= )
in that post above :) I  usually only use that on the forums associated
with those sims...

Pop on over to fsdeveloper.com/forum/

You can get all the help you need there and I think Luis hangs
out there.

...and for those hard to shift things like lamps, roads, pylons, rivers etc which don't respond to the normal exclude utilities then get DefArea V2.0  ...with this little cutie you just fly over the offending road or pylon etc and it just rubs it out...nice one for those really obstinate objects.......will, or rather should work in FSX but not tried it there myself.........

In FS9,  Flattenbgl and Excludebgl are excellent for those like me who hate messing in the scenery.cfg file. You can flatten any shape you wish but the exclude only does rectangles.........

   best of luck....commoner ;)
