Adding a 2D cockpit ?

Postby Nelson » Tue Aug 21, 2007 11:27 am

I have emailed the author but best to ask here as well , may help others.

I have troube with the "FSX/FS2004 Civilian P51D Package." as found here on http://www.simviation.com/fsxvintage3.htm    I run FSX.

An Excellent P-51 Mustang by Warwick Carter & Garry J. Smith (amongst others) with a BRILLIANT Virtual Cockpit , only , it has NO 2D pannel , and I just spent 3 hours trying to transfer one from one of the many other P-51's I have , without sucsess.

I followed the instructions to do this:  "There is no 2D cockpit with this aircraft a suitable one is SIMphony_No2.zip at simaviation.com. there is a gauge called dsd_view_skip.gau by Doug Dawson which will bypass the 2d pit,If you wish to add your own 2d pit then open the panel.cfg file in notepad and comment out or delete the "gauge16=dsd_view_skip!no_2d,  0, 0 ,5,5" entry in the Vcockpit section"

ok, no problem there...but what now ?  I cant find the "SIMphony_No2.zip" here which i'd hoped would explain the next steps....

when I transfer a panel folder from another P-51, I copy and paste the [VCockpit] data from the .cfg file from Warwick Carter's model, and all is good except the VC then has a HUGE BLACK RECTANGLE at the bottom of screen.....

ok, I hope you follow me drift, can anyone help please ?

Learning to edit planes is fun, but steep learning curve.

cheers,
Nelly :(

Look for the panel:
If you didn't find this files in SimV search, (try also avsim), but try Google!
Not found? Ok, Now look for another p51 package. You need to install it to your FS.

Install the Panel:

Open its aircraft folder, then open the subfolder called panel.
If there is/are only folder(s) like "panel.blabla" go into it/one of them.
Select all files in it and copy them.
Now go to your
"FSX/FS2004 Civilian P51D Package."
aircraft folder.
Is there a folder called panel? if not create it new.
Paste all your files here.

Now go back up to the main
"FSX/FS2004 Civilian P51D Package."
aircraft folder.
In it is an Aircraft.cfg.
Open it. Now you need to find the place of a scetion called [fltsim.0] (most times just at top of text but not always).
It has a subentry called "panel=". If there's something behind the = you need to delete this for example if you have:
"panel=anything" you need to change it to "panel=".
You need to look if there are also sections called [fltsim.1], [fltsim.2] and so on.
There you'll always need to adjust the panel keys.
If they're already on "panel=" without anything after the = you don't need to change anything!!!

Hope one can understand what I wrote above,
Godd Luck on getting it work,
/me

PS: You can also use the panel's folder's files from e.g. a 737, a eurofighter or whatever you want......... :D
