i need help with adding gauges to a current virtual cockpit.i want to add a gauge in a blank space but in notepad i dont know how to put it in the right position.explain if u know how to do this. thx

You can't. The virtual cockpit is modeled into the aircraft. The 2D Panel on the other hand, can be edited freely.

yea but then how come when u open the notepad for VC u have for example:

Gauge 00=747-400!alitimeter

something like that cant u just add another 1 or replace a gauge?

You can edit the VC but you can't add gauges outside of the predefined area.  Basically all you can do without some sort of program such as FSPanel Studio is replace a gauge by changing the name of whats there to the name of the gauge you want.  

You can indeed edit the gauges in a VC, but it is a real pain, as it has to be done manually, even FS Panel Studio doesnt work for VC's....

Hi there lilpilotty.   I usually fly from the VC if the aircraft has one & use Glenn Copeland's gauges a lot as his are very good & work well.   Having his 3rdhand, & auotflap gaues, eg,  make up for no First Officer to help you out, & besides, they're fun!  

I have only had problems with a couple on VCs & one was the CaptSim StarFighter F104.  Where-ever I put the gauges they wouldn't work.   When I place a gauge now I click it to see if it works - the F104's didn't light up so there was no power, as it were!!  

My tip is to look at the VC & decide which space you want for a gauge & then look at nearby gauges & write down the names when running your mouse over them, & then check these cooridinates in the panel cfg.  Make a copy of the cfg first though - I keep mine in the panel folder.    Now it's a matter of guessing what numbers to put in & then changing them as needed.   Glenn's gauges come with mini tutorials.  I read them 4 or 5 times to make sure I understood what he was telling me to do.  First-off it will be guess-work but changing the numbers as needed will get you the right positions eventualy.   And remember, the stock icons (GPS/Map/ATC,etc) can be moved to another place to make way for your gauges - I often move them.  

Another tip is to place //  before numbers you're changing just is case you want to go back. Suppose you have this one: gaugeXX=3rdHand1!AutoGearUP, with these corordinates 59,660,60,65.  Put a couple of// in front of the 59, eg   62,650,45,50 //59,660,60,65.   The first may not be what you want & the 2nd better, so all you have to do is delete the first!

Click on Yes when asked if you want to save any changes to the cfg.

Come back if you're still having problems & remember - adding gauges is a SLOW but rewarding job!

Say what? I've been using FSPS for years to create/edit VC's...  ;D

Ummmm......yes it does.

Go to the icon where you select what panel window to edit, an then click on VCockpit1 etc.
