I am fixing the gauges and panels in a freeware aircraft I down loaded, many of the gauges are from default fsx aircraft and other freewares.  There are a few guages that I want to use from one of my payware aircraft....

I know I paid for them and can use them, but if I wanted to let others use my panel (free of course) would there be a copyright issue for the payware gauges used?

I am assuming yes, but thought I would ask any way.

Even with freeware, be sure to read and comply with the author's Copyright and Licensing terms as apply to use or redistribution.

Just because a plane or panel is casually designated "freeware" that does NOT necessarily make any of the components of that plane "in the public domain" (meaing free to use with no restrictions).  Obviously for TOTALLY personal use on your own machine, using a non-public domain item for your own personal use is not likely to get you into any trouble (but still technically not "legal"  ;) ).  But if you are going to distribute the work you do with anyone in any means....... you'd best check the EULA thjat comes with the original for what you can and cannot do.

If in doubt, email the author and ask.

I am re paneling an MD500E helicopter.  So far all my gauges are default FX guages.  So the only thing being redistributed will be the modified CFG file and a readme about some gauge shifting.

I dont want to tick any one off.  The easiest way to do that is to not use their stuff...  period.

Also by using the standard FSX gauges no one will have any problems with things not working.
