converting fs2004 model

Hi all

Its is possible to convert fs2004 to fsx whit the fsx sdk ?

Does the sdk work whit Gmax or i need  the 500 box 3dsmax to get the job done ?


Does i need the fsx sp1 update to be able to convert my fs2004 model to fsx model ?

If its work does somebody can explain me what i have to wright in the short cut

XToMdl.exe to be able to convert my gmax model to fsx model ?

Hi
Yes and no to all the questions :)
You need the SDK sp1 for the G-max tools,to get that you need to have the deluxe ver of FSX.then download sp1 which will only install if the orig SDK from the deluxe ver is installed.
There where quite a few changes between FS9 and FSX,Main ponts you need to keyframe animate everything and I mean every thing wheels prop ect ect :) also the texture format has changed as well but you can get away with the FS9 method.In a nutshell Yes you can build with G-max and No you dont need 3dmax

Ok if i whant just to convert my model to fsx what the best way ?

Hi
You can just drop the fs9 files into fsx (fsx\SimObjects\aircraft folder)and they will work. the only issue at the mo are, no fs98 C++ gauges
any untextured parts will tun solid black or vanish,canopys and props will cut through autogen and clouds,landing lights wont light up scenery
