question re: gauges...

I've been modifying planes w/design programs since FS3, but panel and gauge design is beyond me.  I mean really designing actual gauges, and the .CAB format is a foreign language to me.  Can somebody point me toward someone who can help?  Thanks.  John Murphy

I haven't got my head wrapped around much of it yet, and have gone the route of modifying default gauges to save time, which gives some good results. Manipulating these (even just cosmetic tweaking) opens up how gauges work a lot better than simply reading a pile of documentation - it's like anything, best way to learn is to get your hands right into it.  I guess what I really need is a partner to build the 1960's style gauges and radios (suitable for both FS9 & FS X) and a mentor to help me convert an original (to me) civil plane built for FS5....  It has sentimental value since it was the first (and so far only) plane I've flown in real life, and, unfortunately, all I have are memories of the bird - and some of those faulty - but I did manage to get a 3-d cockpit into the bird (without bleedthrough) and I got the bird flying as per manufacturer (and remembered) performance specs.  - Thanks.  ---  John Murphy
