Smooth Gauges...

Okay, here's a question that has had me bothered for days. For those of you who own any RealAir Simulations packages, you'll notice that the gauges in the VC are smooth and non-jerkey...They are so much better looking and are absolutely gorgeous...Now, I've been wondering, why don't other Payware (or Freeware) developers use the same technology in big jets...I am thinking along the lines of PMDG and such...I know it must be VERY difficult to actually program this stuff...but what is it that limits the designers to conventional jerky gauges rather than these smooth ones...Can someone explain?

Thanks! :)

Think it might be someting to do with the gauge refresh rate, which is programmed into the gauge. Problem with smoother gauges is that they use more processor power because they run the gauge code more frequently, although with a simple panel, you probably wouldn't notice it.
