Need a little help!

Hey,
Im looking into developing some scenery for my local area and i need some tips.
First, any recommendations for an editor? (preferably freeware)
Second, Is it possible to use a satalite image as the 'base' texture for my scenery (i would use the image as a base and then add objects, autogen, etc. on the top.)
And finally, How can i get my scenery to appear where i want it in the world?
Thanks for any help. Once again, this is the first scenery ive done and i dont know a lot!

Cheers,
MrJake2002.

It would help to know what FS ver. your using or designing for.

Also, are you planning on creating your own custom objects (buildings, etc.) or using available object libraries?

My suggestion is SBuilder v2.05. It can do most everything required: Object placement, excludes, flattens, land class, lines and polys, and more, including your photo scenery.

The base download, SBuilder 2.05, is available most anywhere, including SimV downloads.

There are many tutorials available.Scenery.org has several, including one on installation and revision upgrades.

The Sbuilder support forum can also be helpful.
