Notepad! 8)

Once you figure it out, it's not too hard to design a panel by hand typing it ;)

Right, with FS9 your search to find a 'graphical panel editor' as freeware may be limited. I do not know of any.

With versions up to 2002 there was the excellent freeware 'CFGEdit', this has now been turned into a commercial program for FS9, 'Panel Studio' here: www.fspanelstudio.com/

It is a very good program, and if you are serious about good panel design, it is a must and very simple to use.
You may have to bite the bullet and cough up $29 I think.

cfgEdit still works tolerably well with FS9, its biggest limitation being its inability to display .xml gauges.

On the plus side it's free and a lot easier to work with than notepad.

It is available here http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_panels1.htm

Hi, cfgedit is the best tool around it does not allow you to "see" xml gauges but you can still move there psoitions around the place. It is one of the best freeware tolls around for fs.

The payware version of Cfgedit. Is not too expensive. and does support, XML guage editing and creating. I skipped lunch for a coupla weeks and it was well worth the loss of calories!

It really depends on what you want to do. CfgEdit is perfectly fine for the occasional modification & it's free. The main disadvantage of not readfing XML gauges can be easily overcome with a little lateral thinking & manual editing of Panel.cfg. If you're serious about designing panels try CfgEdit first & look at it as a free trial version of FS Panel Studio.
