Catching on - (was: Excl. Generic...)

Well, I'm starting to get the hang of all this scenery biz.  I need to work on my Gmax skills though, and texturing for sure.

Here's what I've done this evening (apologies for bad quality - was not running in fullscreen and had a bunch of sliders down):

Did the YQR terminal - still needs a lot of work, and as soon as I can improve my Gmax abilities I'll at the proper details.

And the McCallum-Hill towers that dominate the skyline - I plan on using photoreal textures, but there's no suitable ones online (reflections of clouds and such), so I'm going to have to go on a photo excursion next time I'm in town.

I need a  flatten switch there too, the SRTM mesh is a touch off in the downtown area.

How are you determining the location of the exclusion - I normally use "slew" mode to get the lat & long coordinates, but probably having to due with the true magnetic north variation, things tend to get placed somewhat away from where they should be.  The other thing you could do is make a very large exclude area to ensure the whole area is affected and then scale it down.

EDIT - Got the exclude working now.

Also, I tried a different method to place my custom .mdl into the scenery, but that didn't work either. (I hand-edited the .xml file and compiled the bgl - I followed the correct format, so I have no idea what's up.)

By the way... did I mention this is my first go at scenery (besides AFCADs)? I jumped in headlong, but so far I understand everything, except these few hiccups.
