Job Anyone?  T-6 Texan II Instrument Panel

Postby lilryno » Fri Dec 17, 2004 2:52 pm

Hi all,

I have a T-6 JPATS plugin but it still needs the instrument panel designed.  Looking to hire someone to make it.  If you're interested in this please email me at lilryno@aol.com so we can discuss payment and other issues.  Thanks!

Send me a picture of a real one and I'll slap together a decent working model for you in a couple of days.

Better yet, get cfgEdit and learn how to make your own panel.

Wow!  That's awesome man.  I'll get you a pic really soon.  By the way, I graduated from FSU in 96.  How about you?

FSU College of Law, and my age is showing, 1980.

Total computer geek thereafter.

Incidentally, the biggest problem in creating a realistic panel is finding a decent background.  After that it's just a matter of putting in the gauges

Awesome.  My wife is taking some grad classes there right now and just started apply to law schools.  She's gotten accepted to two and is waiting for the others.

Did Proffesor Gey teach there back in 80?  That guy rocks....

I don't remember a Prof. Gey.  What did he teach?

Are VanderCreek (excellent prof but probably dead from alcoholism) and Oeltjen still there?

I just Googled the T-6.  Can't you just use a P-51 panel?  I don't see a huge difference.   Have you searched the SimV and the AVsim libraries?

I'm not sure about those other law profs.  I just went to the law school to talk to Prof Gey (Con Law guy) about the separation of church and state (I was a religion major).

I actually need a real deal T-6 instrument panel because I'm going to use it for instructional videos for college cadets about to go to pilot training.  I've never actually programmed a flight sim add-on myself.  Pretty busy with all this other stuff and would rather have experts do it.  The T-6 Texan II JPATS is pretty much all glass so I doubt it's like the P-51.  The T-6 II is pretty state of the art.

The late Pat Dore was my Con Law prof - let's just say our political views conflicted.

It's a little late and I'm logging out for the night but I have your email and I'll get back to you.  In the meantime you might want to search the libraries I suggested.  You may find a panel already made - or at least a basic background that I can start from.

BTW - is this for FS 2002 or 2004?  I do better with 2002.

Well it's actually for 2004.  I know that many that work for 2002 also work for 2004 though.  Not sure if that's helpful.

I did search on the libraries and I found one from 2002 that I can't view because it doesn't work with 2004 from what I can tell.  I'm not sure what the instrument panel looks like though so I don't know if it's useful or not.  And it would bring up copyright issues I would guess depending how much you used it.  I need the copyright for the instrument panel to stay out of trouble when I make the videos (which is why I'm trying to hire someone to make the panel).

Here is a link to the T-6 Texan II that may or may not be helpful...

Hope to hear from you.  Thanks for the help.

$1000 for anyone that can design a T-6 Texan II instrument panel for me.  If this isn't a fair price I'm open to negotiate.  I have a friend that is an instructor pilot flying them and he'll supply details needed for the process.  The timeline is pretty flexible.  I'd like to get the basic IFR flyable features within a few months and the more detailed stuff can take more time.

I know many here do this kinda thing for fun so money might not be a great incentive.  But I'm so busy programming other stuff I just can't do it myself.  I need to get an instrument panel that isn't just thrown together (so gauge design is needed) and I have to make sure that copyright isn't an issue because the ultimate goal of this plugin is to use it for an instructional video.  Anyone up for the task?  ???

Ok.  Seems hiring somebody is out of the question.  People just like making stuff for free it seems.  In that case, can somebody point out the best gauge/panel design tools?  I have some experience programming in visual basic, asp.net and C shouldn't be hard to pick up at all.  Still, I'd like to get the best software available for the job.  I would really rather hire somebody to do this but I guess I'll have to do it myself and I'd like to be armed with the best tools.  Any recommendations?

Throwing gauges together on a panel I think I can handle but I'm more interested in the gauge design.  I've seen several posts wanting to find a gauge designer so it seems this art is somewhat involved.

Hi lilryno. Wish I could help but unfortunately I can't.

There's some great stuff here though if anyone wants to see what's involved
