Help with BGL Comp

Postby flymanjg » Thu Jun 24, 2004 12:05 am

I am trying to exclude some taxi way signs and some auto gen buildings at my local International airport.  I am using a program which generates the XML file however when I drag it over the BGLCOMP.exe nothing happens.  No BGL file is generated.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The input file must be in the same folder as the bgl comp is.
otherwise it will not work.

I tried that as well and still no BGL file.  I dropped the two sample files that come with the BGL Comp sdk (Thermals) and they did work, I got the BGL Files.  I also copied and paste the text in the BGL Comp Read me file to an XML file to create the Oil rig at "Sea Tac" and that also worked (created a BGL file).  The problem is that the XML file created by the exclusion software v2 does not create a BGL file.  Any Ideas.......

flymanjg:  I really had trouble with the exclude file as well. The two biggest things to look for is spelling and the order of lat/lon., Take a look at mine and maybe it will help.

     latitudeMaximum = "36 21.07"
     latitudeMinimum = "36 20.77"
     longitudeMinimum = "-119 45.31"
     longitudeMaximum = "-119 44.98"
     excludeAllObjects = "TRUE"
     excludeEffectObjects = "TRUE" />

I'm not sure why the minus sign, but they have to be included. Let us know how you make out.

OK, finally got the BGL file.  I placed the BGL file in the Addon scenery/scenery folder and restarted FS9 however the auto gen buildings that I wanted to remove surrounding the area of my local airport are still there.  Any Ideas??????

Don't take this wrong but did you go into scenery settings and add the addon folder. If you've done that and the taxiway signs are gone then you might try making the excluded area bigger.

Make A folder called KOPF Exclusion, Made subfolder inside called scenery and placed the BGL in the KOPF exclusion/scenery folder.  I then placed the whole thing in the Addonscenery folder,  Started FS9 went to the library and added the scenery.  Re started FS9 and the auto gen buildings that I wanted to remove are still there.  The size of the exclusion rectacngle is approx double the size of the airpot itself.  It the surrounding buildings around the airport that I want to get rid of as they are not there in the real world.  Any Ideas ???

Make another subfolder called texture and place it in the KOPF Exclusion folder with the scenery subfolder. I don't know why, but the texture folder is required, nothing is in it, but you do have to have it there.

Hopfully this will do it for you.
