"Replacing" Default Scenery

Postby Mike Thurman » Sat Jan 24, 2004 9:48 am

Ok, i'm somewhat a "Newbie" to scenery design. Ive made some thing like terminals, etc at my airports, but how ( if exporting in gmax ) do i replace default scenery files. For example: There's this really crappy looking building at this one airport in alaska, and i want to replace it with one of my scenery objects ( in gmax ).  How do i do this?

The only way that I know of would be to load the BGL file for the airport you want or to completely replace it with a new file. The only problem with this is lots of luck trying to find out which file you need. Someone used to make a program that would convert bgl files into a format that you could use in Wordpad, and be able to see which airport it was for. But I do not know if any one has come up with a program for FS9. I was told that there is a big differance in the format between FS2002 and FS2004.

Not really my field of expertise (much more into panels) but I can make a suggestion. Find a guru, someone who has tons of scenery design experiments under his belt. However, I recently posted in a topic in this forum where someone said something about excluding part of the NYC scenery. I am sure you could do the same here.
