island & scenry building in cfs2

???Howdy, (you too Hagar if you read this  ;D ) I have built quite a few sceneries for CFS1 ( I know,I know, who flies that anymore lol) . I have since been asked to built an island base in cfs2. So for starters I just took a scenery I built with Airport 2.60 and Martin Wrights cfsClass program ( to build the mountain itself)
and stuck in it cfs2.Airfield is ok but the island is totally invisable.I made sure all the texture files were there but still no island. Also, I get some of these long shadows from some of the more doubious 3rd party add on macro objects.SO.... there is something different in how the CFS2 "engine" works when it comes to reading/reproducing scenery. Can anyone educate me a little and maybe tell what programs i can use to build mountainous islands? Sorry for such a long post.
Thanks for your time , Ddave  :D ;D ;)

Hi Dave. I noticed you've had no response so far.

I might not be much help as I've forgotten most of what I knew about CFS1 scenery. I never knew that much to start with. ::)

Most FS98/CFS1/FS2000 API macros should work in CFS2 but there could be display conflicts with some earlier examples. For the mesh I think CfsClass was originally intended for CFS1 & have no idea if it's compatible with CFS2. FSTerrain might be the better option. http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm
The best person to ask would be MW himself.

;D Hi Hagar, thanks for the  response. As a matter of fact I did message Martin and here is his reply which is quite informative..............

........" CFS2 uses a scenery engine similar to FS2000/FS2002.This involves mesh and landclasses and all sorts of other things. It also uses LandWaterMasking (LWM) to seperate land and water areas........
.... There has been discussion for ages on the various aspects of FS2002 terrain and a lot of this is applicable to CFS2.There are programs to modify the landclasses (set the ground type you want), create/modify LWM shorelines (tell it where the Land is), create mesh (make the land go up and down in the right places). It is a much more flexible system but inevitably it is more complicated and often requires the use of several different tools to get what you want.Having said that the Classlist scenery should still work generally in CFS2....."

He went on to say that FSSC is pretty good for scenery building and SDK offers the ability to build and alter terrain mesh although its more complicated.

Pretty good stuff from Martin Wright, thought I might pass it on. :D ;D

Thanks Dave. We don't talk much now but MW & I go back a long way. I have always found him to be most patient & helpful. He is also a really nice chap. ;)
