Need Help with my L-1011 Panel

Postby flyerorange » Mon Oct 20, 2003 8:46 am

I have FS2002, and yesterday I installed the L-1011 Version 3.0 for FS98/2000, on two of my DC-10s, and one of my L-1011s.  I can do everything, except tune the Nav radios.  I can change the transponder numbers, but not the Navs.  Obviously, I can't do ILS landings.  I love the panel, and want to keep it.  I'd appreciate any help regarding changing the Nav numbers. ::)

The panel download is on Page 44 of the FS2000 Panels.

Hi orange

You're finding the same problems as I had with 'classic' 98/2000 panels which in my view leave the 2002 ones standing.

With this particular panel it's the autopilot causing the problem. Can you use CFGEdit.exe? If so, open the panel delete the existing autopilot (which you have to do with most 98/2000 panels anyway) and replace it. The best alternative which I mostly go for is the 'A2' autpilot which if you've d/loaded many panels you'll probably have in your GAUGES file.

The next thing you have to do with all these old panels is add the simicons from eg the Kingair or the Caravan (NOT the 747 etc - in the Kingair they're separate and editable in the others they're not - we get so many stoopid people who try to use the 747 cab files in CFGEdit when there's just no need to) and a pop-up GPS.

Then you're really in business. I've done this and several other 98/2000 panels (inc Airbus (at least 2), 767, 747, DC10, 727, 737) and I love em.

Don't foget you also need the radios section in aircraft.cfg file

[Radios]
// Radio Type=available, standby frequency, has glide slope
Audio.1=1
Com.1=1, 1
Com.2=1, 1
Nav.1=1, 1, 1
Nav.2=1, 1, 0
Adf.1=1
Transponder.1=1
Marker.1=1

And for good measure I invariably delete the old radios and use FS2002 ones, usually in a pop-up radio stack. And you need to edit the above section depending on whether you have standby frqs or not on the radios you use.

;)

Hey RollerBall..............thanks for the help.  I'll see what I can do with it.  In the meantime, I'll enjoy the panel, and get better at my own visual approaches!

I'll let you know if I am able to implement your procedure.  :)

Hey again, RollerBall..............I do have the A2 autopilot in my main gauges folder.  I guess I'm still not sure what to do with it.

Can you write a step by step synopsis of what I need to do, and where to find all the stuff?  I'd appreciate it.

OK, as my mods use all standard gauges, just copy and paste the following panel.cfg file!

Re: Need Help with my L-1011 Panel

It works great on my L-1011!  And the panel is even better than the version I had.

Is there any way to get the radio stack to work with the same panel on my DC-10s?

In any event, I love the panel, so I'll keep it on the Dc-10s, regardless.  Thanks very much! :)
