New panel won't show up????

Hello fellow aviators,

After modifying a panel in Cfgedit, I use the "copy panel to an aircraft" tool which it does successfully, but when I go into windows explorer I find that it has created an additional folder with a heap of cfg.backup files.

Question 1. How do I get my new panel to show up in the simulator under the aircraft I have selected?

Question 2. Can I delete all the cfg.backup files and only have the oringinal modified file?

Question 3. Once the modified panel is complete, how should I save it so I can access it in the future?

If anyone could help it would be most appreciated.

Thanking you in advance

Providing you set the options correctly CfgEdit will export the files to the existing Panel folder of the selected aircraft. It might be better to export it in a separate folder. Use any suffix you wish. I named my example Panel.0 by typing 0 in the "New Panel Name" box.

This is the new Panel.0 folder in the selected aircraft.

Edit Aircraft.cfg to recognise it like this.

[fltsim.0]
title=DH 89A Dragon Rapide
sim=Oyaao
model=
panel=0
sound=
texture=
checklists=

I prefer the CgfEdit Tools/Export Panel option. This will export the panel with separate Panel & Gauges folders to any location you choose. It's automatically configured ready to install to any aircraft you wish in the usual way.

The panel.cfg files are backed up for safety in case you wish to return to a previous version of the panel. You can delete them when no longer required.

Thanks Hagar,

I've done what you advise in your reply, but when I load the aircraft in the simulator, I get no screens at all.

I must be doing something wrong!!!

It's funny, I first modiified the dash board to replace a VOR guage which I feel was mulfunctioning, and that worked, but when I went to change the layout to reduce the number of windows you need to open, it gives me nothing.

Lost in all directions, I have folders and files with all diferent names, back up files into the 40's,  forgeting where and what I put last etc.

I know your example in your reply is quite easy to understand, but I still can't get it right.

Should I delete the original PANEL folder from the aircraft root directory, or leave it where it is and change the AIRCRAFT.cfg like you showed me.???

Anyway, not knowing whats what, I will start all over again, hoping to work it out on the way.

Any further advice would be most apreciated.

I would suggest using the Export Panel option. Then you can treat it like any other 3rd party panel & install it to your aircraft in the same way. It's very easy to get confused with all those backed up folders in different locations.

I suspect the problem is most likely something in the way your panel is set up. Open Panel.cfg in Notepad & compare it with a similar one that does work.

hagar,

I thinks it's just a matter of trial and error.

I shall stick at it!

Thanks again
