How do I get rid of the stock airport?

Postby Hernan2 » Thu May 08, 2003 5:28 pm

Hi
I downloaded Honolulu airport, after installing it, I noticed that the original, stock airport still shows up, protruding through the new terminal. The HNL airport I downloaded is just beatiful and so real that the old one looks just terrible. How can I get rid of it so I can realign the gates with AFCAD?. Thanks, Hernan :)

Either go into the scenery library and drive down to the Honolulu default scenery (it wl be way down in the stack) and uncheck it.

Or you can do an EXCLUDE statement in your scenery.cfg file.

Hi Kyle
Thanks for your response. As you suggested, I unchecked the Honolulu airport in the Scenery Library, When I opened FS I got this warning: "Scenery in Library not found. This may cause some scenery such as some buildings to not display", then there were several codes like: ID: OXAF1974CA OX4BFDF8F2, etc and the regular "OK", I pressed OK, different codes appeared again, this went on about five times and the airport opened up, but the old building is still there. I also went to the scenery.cfg file, Honolulu was in area 87 and the following were checked: "Active: FALSE, Required: FALSE"...What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help. Hernan ???

Hernan. I wouldn't advise deactivating default scenery areas. This can cause problems rather than solve them as you discovered.
Without knowing details of the scenery you installed I can't give precise instructions. Most designers will include these in their Readme. Look for reference to an Exclude switch. It will look something like this one copied from a Honolulu update I found by Bill Melichar.

Exclude=N21 19.93,W157 55.59,N21 19.65,W157 54.93,all

Open Scenery.cfg & copy/paste the complete line directly below the entry for the new scenery area. This is usually the last entry in the CFG. That should fix it.

Doug,
Thanks so much for your help. Your suggestion was the correct one. I did what you suggested, and now my HNL airport looks just the way I remember it a couple of months ago. Now, I want to add more AI traffic to make it look more real. I have Aloha and Hawaiian flying between the islands, and all of the majors serving HNL. When we landed, there were 3 Japan Air Lines 747s parked at the gates, which I would like to add to my AI traffic, but I've been having a hard time making it work. I downloaded a MelJet 747 400 in the newest scheme. All files are present, ui manufacturer shows Boeing and the ui type shows 747-400, but for some reason it does not show up in FS. I'll keep working on it. Thanks, and nice to hear from you again.
Hernan :)
