Complete Scenery Design newbie

Postby spotter » Sun Nov 24, 2002 12:03 pm

Hi all,

I'm Jurgen (My parents liked it) and I want to start designing scenery with Gmax. I know it good enough now I think that I can atually start on the scenery. What do I need for that (except gmax)?? I read some topics here and I think this is the place to be.

Greets,

Hi Jurgen. I'm not sure there are too many Gmax scenery designers round here.
The tutes posted on this site should give you a good start.

GMAX is good for making objects like buildings, bridges etc.

But unless you plan to zoom right up to your bridges and count rivets,, EOD is much easier for such tasks.

To actually "make" scenery, terrain, runways and what-not,, you need to use a prog like FSSD or AIRPORT..

That's how you place it in the scenery environment (LAT/LON/Elevation)

Like plane design,,it takes practice, but it's fun..

I'm an even newer newbie to scenery design.  Where can I find the EOD, FSSD and Airport programs?

Thanks,

Beery. Look in the Simv Scenery Design section. http://www.simviation.com/fsdutilsdesn.htm
If you like a particular program/utility check the designer's home page regularly for the latest updates.

:)

Except look for FSSC (sorry Brett!) short for Flight Simulator Scenery Creator.

There were some recent threads on which prog people preferred (look back about 4-6 weeks?)

I THINK the overall preference was for FSSC over Airport (I started with Airport - now only use FSSC) but people have to try em and make their own minds up.

Anyway, they're all Freeware (thanks to all the creators who work tirelessly developing and updating these progs - where would we all be without em??) so you can download and get stuck in!
