.. I Know I messed up so you don't need to remind me. I was trying to install the Duxford scenery plus update from simV (where else?) and made such a mess of it that I decided to remove any files related to the two downloads from my FSX but have been left with the error message;

SCENERY.CFG file error.
Invalide remote scenery path in scenery area.122
Click ok to continue.

Now according to my Scenery cfg file the last scenery area is 120.
I've tried deleting the scenery cfg file in the hope that FSX would build a new one, but no luck.

OK you can stop laughing now. any idea's?

Zaphod.

Make sure you're looking at the correct scenery.cfg file. There are several in different locations.
The active FSX scenery.cfg file is here --> C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

PS. I don't think deleting the file will work. The best way of fixing the problem would be from the Scenery Library.

When writing this answer, Hagar answered about the scenery.cfg location. In addition:

The scenery.cfg error shows that the path is not correct. I don't know if the Duxford that you have installed makes an automatic activation of the scene or if you have activated it from FSX.
This path should be in a standard install C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Games\Flight simulator X\Addon Scenery\ACG IWM Duxford FSX (or other Duxford name).

If you delete scenery.cfg (in the location indicated by Hagar), it rebuilds the default scenery but not the scenery manually (or automatic) activated.
If you dindn't keep a backup of scenery.cfg (provided tha was the right one) you must activate this scenery in FSX. You must check and be sure where Duxford has been installed.

Uh, humanism?

From the Google:
HUMANISM: an outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters.

Actually, better to follow an outlook or system of thought called BACKUPISM, I think. :lol:

Hi Guys and thanks for the repiles.

Hagar, I don't have a "ProgramData" file in the root of my C drive. I've searched all of my FSX for any reference to "Duxford" and can't find any so I'm reasonably confident I've removed all files associated with the download.

In the scenery library I have 122 priority entries. No 1 is "Addon Scenery" and 122 is "Default terrain".

Zaphod.

Edit.

OK. I found the ProgramData file and the Scenery.cfg file (I assume it must be hidden in some way). Anyway here is the relevant entry;
[Area.122]
Title=Addon Scenery
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=122

Now I've found it, what should I do with it?

Zaph...

I seem to have fixed the problem although I'm not entirely sure why.
I deleted the scenery.cfg file in the location suggested by Hagar and allowed FSX to build a new one.
I then found I needed to re-activate my addon scenery in the scenery library despite the fact that they are in the add-on scenery folder which was already activated.

Anyway, thanks to all who responded especially Hagar.

As always you can rely on SimV to sort out the cockups of which there have been many over the years. :roll:

Thanks again.
Zaphod :clap:
