Turning Google maps images into FS9 scenery?

Postby carlsoti » Sun May 12, 2013 8:13 pm

Is there a way to do it? Where do I start?

I grew up in BFE, and there's no add-on scenery for the area I grew up in, but it's all over google maps, as is pretty much everything in the US.
What was that thing I was supposed to remember to do?

I cant see it being very practical, and very similar to free-ware Flight Sim; "Photographic scenery".

I suspect that Mr. and Mrs. Google are very protective about what use their Satellite Maps are used for, being covered by Copyright restrictions... ;) ...!

Version 3 of; "Plan-G" no longer contains the Google Maps for that very reason now...(only available in the previous Version 2).

Paul...FS 2004 and Plan G v2.0.5... ...!

...except that he wants to design for FS2004, Chuck.

Here is the link for the latest version of SBuilder for FS2004, which includes all updates. http://www.ptsim.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=40&layout=blog&Itemid=18.

"Carlsoti", SBuilder is a design program for working with all of the various terrain elements of the FS2004. For your project, using SBuilder, you have the choice of either: adding default 'land class' to simulate the scenery in the area; or, creating 'photo-real' terrain using satellite imagery. Using default land class is by far the easiest but is not 'real'. 'Photo-real', takes much more work as 3-d elements (buildings, etc) must be added.

For work on the airport you can use either AFCAD 2.21, link http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=afcad&categoryId=41

or, Airport Design Editor 9/X, link http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/
