Poly Question

Postby CHUCK79 » Tue Mar 26, 2013 11:46 pm

Here's the problem........photoreal ground textures overlaying UT AK terrain mesh. Water looks a little strange along the coast huh?

So what I did was use a flatten polygon in SbuilderX to re shape the coastline (keep in mind these are rough attempts as I've never had this problem before) and this is the result:

Is there a better way? Can I make the transition more smooth instead of a sheer drop-off?

Nevermind.....the airport had no business at that altitude in the first place. I just created a poly around the entire airport and dropped it about 65' and another poly to reshape the coastline. Then I used ADE to lower the elevation of the airport in FSX.

Here's a real world image (not my photo):

Here's a shot of the terrain after I lowered it. (The water is dull because I haven't done the water mask yet)

Do I spy and smell Kodiak CGAS? God RW it has been at least 6 years since I pulled my 1 and only AVDET tour there.

Your senses are very sharp :shhh:

Got the water and terrain sorted out......a few minor adjustments to make, but very close. Can start modeling hangars soon O0

USCG76, when I get something together would you mind doing a little testing to help me refine the scenery once I have a rough outline?
I would really appreciate having an opinion from someone who has set foot on Kodiak

You have 25 approach coastline as I remember it. I stood down there once fishing and got a face full of cold spray during a minor storm and ice cycles instead of a beard lol.
