Bouys

Postby Rafiki » Thu Apr 22, 2004 11:40 am

Hi everybody.
How do i create bouys on a water strip that i made?  If i need a scenery program which one?  I just used AFCAD to make a runway in a secluded bay, now i need bouys to mark the sides of the runway, is this possible? how about lighting, glide slope lights and end of runway lights?

What is easiest is to get:FSSC or Airport for scenery compialation, and use G-max or Easy Object Designer to create the bouy. ( EOS is less complecated). If you need help with the bouy I can help.

by scenery compilation do you mean runway lights and glide slope stuff?
So i could make bouys with Easy Object Designer, could i also have lights on the water for night time?
Where do i get these things?
REally Appreciate your help.  I am new at this so i just wanted to get to where i could create my own airfields.
I might call upon you later!
Thanks,

compialation is putting the macros or runways where you want them is the FS world. Lights can be added to the bouys themselves in EOD or you can put lights along the runway in general.

Wouldn't it be easier to create an invisible runway surface in FSSC, that way you wouldn't have the problem of placing the bouys in the right place, you could just place them in FSSC next to the invisible runway then just export the whole lot into FS. The Glide Slope you could configure in FSSC when you set up the runways. You could also give the runway a VASI.

Heres my attempt: Image
I know the lines aren't very straight, it's only a 'Beta' version!!
I first made a grass runway (FSSC) and got it into position. Then Iwas gonna make a simple macro with EOD, but I couldn't be bovvered! So i got FSSC to make its building and set all dimensions to 1m. Set a light on top and line 'em up. Set the runways properties not visibles, and it alll works... Now for the AI...!!!??

Hi Rafiki... I assume you mean the scenery?  :P I'm sure we could work out somthing... PM me your e-mail if you want. Just to clarify, it's for FS2002, and you will need FSSC 1.5.8 or higher to edit it. I will send you the source files, provided they aren't too big!!
The reason you aren't seeing your scenery is that after you tell FSSC to 'Export' what you need to do is use FS2002's scenery library. In full screen mode press Alt, to show the menus, World > Scenery Library. Click add scenery area and then navigate thro' your directory to find the scenery folder. Go no further than FS2002\scenery, then just highlight the folder that has your scenery in it. Don't eneter it. Click OK and leave the Library. It will think around for a bit, reload your flight and it should show up!

Dan. Good advice but FS9 is a little different to FS2002. You can only access the Scenery Library from Settings on the startup screen. You also need to exit the sim & restart it for new activated areas to display. Not all the FSSC features like AFD BGLs & navaids will work in FS9. You can add these with the latest AFCAD.

PS. I was wondering if the FSSC runway lights feature would work on an invisible runway. This would save a lot of messing around

It is FS2K2.
When you say that i need to go to Fs2k2 scenery, i can not find my file, that is i saved it aas something other than a BGL because FSSC does not do bgl's or something like that, its a process of conversion  that i dont understand
