Dynamic Scenery

Postby SHV0151 » Wed Jun 07, 2006 7:51 pm

How do you make dynamic scenery?  I want to add cars and boats to a town that I am making, but I dont know how to make the objects move.

Thanks,
SHV*0151

PS: I do not want to know how to do AI traffic. I already know that ;D

Making dynamic moving scenery (as far as I can tell) is HARD.  It takes some tweaking and patience, along with some very intricate programs all working in conjunction with each other.

What modelling programs/etc are you using or have you already got?

Okay, you have the basics that you need.

The next one you must go get is a little thing called CAT (Conditional Animation Tool).  This little thing will make objects move that are parts of scenery.  Read up on it VERY CAREFULLY, as it is comprehensive and a little finicky, just like all programs for FS.

The idea is to create a set of library objects for use with either EZ Scenery or Runway 12.  Preferably both, as there is a tutorial for Gmax to Runway 12.  Make sure to read up on this, as well.  It is a little complicated, and I have to get the tutorial out every time I want to create a new library object.

Once you get the kinks worked out of both of the above items, you should be able to produce moving, working scenery objects fairly quickly and painlessly.  As a bonus, you can have them on hand to place anywhere with just a few clicks, as they can be used by both Runway 12 and EZ Scenery, which has an interface for Rwy12.
