Well, its been a looooonnnnnggg time since I tried to mess with a 2d panel.

But from what I remember, it has to have an absolutely black background.  That means 0,0,0 in the RGB spectrum.

I would suggest opening the main window in some kind of image editor (Windows default Paint will work) and filling the area with absolute black, then resaving.

You should be able to edit your panel background in MS Paint.  Open the panel.bmp (or whatever its called) with MS Paint. You'll find it in the Panel folder.
You then select the Fill tool (looks like a paint pot). Select black from the color box (top left color)., then click on the area of the panel which is where the view should be. (It probably already looks black but is not pure RGB 000 black)
Save the BMP and then reload your aircraft.  That portion of the panel should now be transparent.

Regards

Does this happen with JUST this panel?

I downloaded the panel (ACSMDL11panel_249.zip) and the .bmp's are fine. The transparent areas are RGB 0,0,0 as required.

I even installed it in the default 737 (no MD11) and the panel .bmp's displayed fine.

Assuming the panel is installed properly, you might have to suspect a graphics setting issue.

Couple things to try:

1) In the sim goto /Setting/Display/Hardware tab and change the 'Render to Texture' setting.

2) Edit the FS9.cfg file (back it up first).  Scroll down to find this section;

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 .0] <-will correspond to your graphics card
Mode=1024x768x16
TextureAGP=0
TriLinear=1
PanelAsTexture=0 <- add or edit this this line to read thusly.

If these don't help, revert to your original settings, and we'll have to look further.
