Building Construction

What software would you recommend to add hangars to airfields?  I downloaded AFCAD and it gives me an accurate presentation of airfields.  However, my home field, KPBH in Phillips, WI doesn't have the many hangars that surround it, particularly my home hangar.  Is there something I'm missing in AFCAD or do I need some other building-construction software?

Hi Gordy,

Good to see yet another Wisconsinite. I'm from Cable, 3cu. Nice area, Phillips! Get there on occassion as I have a son in Lugerville......anyhooo...

What you need is an 'object placer' program. A couple of popular ones for fs2004 are;

EZScenery by Abacus-payware. Allows you to place buildings and other objects from within your FS flight window.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Just so you know, Rwy12 has a little tick box that allows you to hook it to FS while the sim is running, so you can slew to any spot and "drop" the object there.  You won't be able to see the object until you exit the sim and reload, however.

Hi Gordie

There is also Anro's Obplacer which is simple and superb litle program that allows you to slew around FS and place mdls.

To creat your own besopke hangers yourself you will ned a modellling program.  In my opinion the best one to use is Gmax but some people are put off as it looks  complex :P.  It does take a little bit of learning but worth the effort.

A great summary of some of the scenery design programs available is here:

Have fun ;D
