Request for a very simple bit of scenery

Postby gryshnak » Thu Feb 23, 2006 12:33 pm

I'd like to try making a course similar to the Red Bull Air Races, flown around pylons which are simply inflatable cones fixed to the ground.  A quick web search for "Red Bull Air Race" will provide plenty of pix.  I haven't found anything similar in any scenery files, but surely it wouldn't be difficult for someone to make a truncated cone shape?  That's the only bit of scenery needed, I can position them around the course with EZ-Scenery once I've got a pylon to work with.

Anyone want to make this incredibly simple bit of scenery for us?  Please?  I'd do it myself if I knew how...

Hi Gryshnak

Birdman has created the red bull race things for his fantastic Kemble.  This link will take you to a post at UKSD and in the last image you will see my attempt at his course LoL!  (neede a bulldog as could not do it in an Extra 300! :P

Bird has also linked it to NAV settings so you can switch them on and off, superb job.

Thanks, that was fun!  Does anyone know what the proper course was at the time?  I've just been flying figure-8s around the pylons for the last half hour, and it's pretty difficult.  Part of that is the limitations of simming, where your field of view is limited to the screen instead of just turning your head in RL.
