Creating curved hangar roofs in gMax

Postby Bell206freak » Sat Oct 01, 2005 4:00 pm

I am close to 80% done with my Sanderson Field scenery project. I have managed to create and texture objects in gMax now, but I am having a problem with one object.

At Sanderson, there's a rather large structure  with a curved roof. I cannot figure out how to make a curved roof in gMax.

If anyone knows how to do this, let me know.

I'd greatly appreciate it.

The quick way is to use a cylinder that fits the basic building. Convert to an editable mesh. In point mode, scale down the verticle  radius and delete the points that make the lower half.  If you want to give the roof thickness, extrude the polys that form the actual roof arch (not the ends).  To make an over hang extrude the newly made end polys.  Then clean up unnecessary points on the roof arch by moving and welding with 3d snap on.
