Help getting started with

Postby Scamper » Tue Jan 11, 2005 6:50 am

Hi,

I have just purchased FS Design Studio Version 2.24 from Abacus, however, I am having trouble getting past the starting gate and wonder if you can help with my problem?

I am running FS9 on a Win XP machine.  Pretty high spec. and now a very mature FS environment.  Many sceneries etc., and pretty rock solid.

The problem I have is that I simply cannot see the scenery object I have created within FS9.

I have started from scratch and followed the first tutorial ‘Making a building – Part 1’ steps 1 through to 11.  When I go to Meigs the brown coloured building is simply not visible.

The Building.bgl was reported as being compiled OK, size just over 1 KB, and has been placed in my main FS9 Scenery folder.  Project properties displays the correct Area Block details – Reference Point is set at 7, 0.1 and 264.8712 – Area Type is set at 5.

I have tried everything I can think off, including rebuilding the object but with greater dimensions, changing Area Block details to those of a small grass field where no buildings could conflict with the placement, but all to no avail.  I also installed FS9 on an old backup machine and placed the .bgl in that FS9 scenery folder.  Same result, failure to display the building.

Sorry to trouble you, but this is such a basic problem.  I hope you can get me up and running.

Regards,
Scamper

try moving it to the addon scenery folder. This will auto load it when FS starts. Scenery located anywhere else will have to be added manually. I find it a lot more us full to make the object a .api file with the export menu under files. Use Airport for Windows to place it

Double check the coordinates.  I had problems using FSDSv2 with it placing items miles away from where it was meant to be and never did figured out why, thats why.  I was doing an airfield so used FSSC to place the buildings.  Can't think of anything else.

I've had similar issues with armaments, they seems to compile OK but couldn't be seen........
Found the problem was one of scale in FSDS. In project properties should be set to: 0.0019531 to match FS/CFS.
Check it out and advise.
