Postby stiz » Fri Oct 29, 2004 7:15 am

Hi

I'm makeing a bridge a FSDSv2.24 then useing FSSC to place it in CFS2. My problem is that since i want veichles to go accross the bridge i need to place an invisable runway where the bridge but i can't get the runway to the correct height.

The pictures show what i mean more clearly

Thanks in advance

I know it can be done. If you find the true altitude of the bridge then it shouldn't be a problem.

You might try making the bridge in Gmax, as it can now make landable surfaces that aren't ground level.  Check out the FS2004 SDK link in my signature and go download the Gmax SDK.  It has a little file in there that tells all about this.

I have constantly tried the same type of thing, with no success.  I don't think FSSC can currently do what you are wanting.  No matter what height you input to the program, it always comes out on the surface of the ground (or water).

Are you setting the altitude of the RW equal to or a tad more than the altitude from the ground to the bridge surface?

I know it can be done with FSSC as many used it to place landable surfaces on static Carriers in CFS2.

What about creating a Surface or Flat Area?

The only way i can get the runway to stay where i want it is by using a flat area set to the alt of the but then it drags all the surronding terrain up to the height of the bridge.

You can set the parameters for the Flat Area I think ???

stiz,

If all else fails, look for someone that has done carrier work. They have had to make an elevated hard surface so you can land on carriers. I remember this subject being discussed in the forums here long time ago. Maybe a search will bring up past posts that will hold the answer.

I know one off the top of my head, he doesn't frequent Simvation, but he created a great carrier with a landable surface for CFS2. His squad name was HH_GS007, also know as Mr. Gadjet. Wiz at effects, carriers etc. His is the url for his website.    http://mr_gadjet.tripod.com/
