Making CFS1 HUD gauges

Postby 3NG_Padser » Tue Jul 15, 2003 3:59 pm

~S~ all,

A question relating to CFS1 - not sure if you guys are still interested in this, I guess it's a little old now - like me ;-)

I've been inspired by a modified HUD panel put together by a one HoT_ELEFANT_Mjr, AKA Charles Guy Carnahan - clever guy.

I'm trying to get an ADF gauge to show on the default HUD (default_panels.cfg), and am encountering problems.

I can position the gauge but the gauge itself is not displaying transparently. That is, some of it is but there is a large solid square superimposed over the top of it). I have tried editing the gauge using FS Panel Studio, so that all the backgrounds of the various bitmap components are digital black, but the problem continues.

From what I can tell, it looks as if I am going to have to remove a Bitmap resource (ID 20480) but have no idea how I might go about this.

The gauge I have been messing with is a normal bendix_king.adf.slaved.gau

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Pads

Pads. For this to work you would need a transparent ADF gauge, if there is such an animal. It might just be possible to edit the gauge BMPs of an existing ADF with Chuck Dome's GauBmp utility to make the background transparent. Make sure to rename the modified gauge before trying it.

Thanks, Hagar. :)

Once more you've been very hepful - I suspect that this will be the same as the built-in gauge editor in FS Panel Studio - but I will certainly give this a try!

What I really need to be able to do, I guess, is make an entirely new gauge - somewhat beyond me, I fear... ;-)

Cheers,
