FSSC scenery macro problem

???Hello.I recently downloaded the Flight Simulator Scenery Creator program and am working on a scratch built airbase.I have a flattened area,surface areas where i will be placeing macro objects,runways,taxiways,and roads.the problem I have is i have a macro of a hangar with the doors open and interior detail and floor.i have placed the object correctly(lat.,long.,alt.,etc.)the hangar looks fine on the sim except the floor of the hanger shimmers and flickers.i have tried readjusting the altitude several times but it does not fix it.enclosed is several screenshots of the hangar to illustrate the problem.I thought i would post the problem to find out what i am missing to fix the problem.FSSC is a great program , but it could use some step by step tutorials and a manual for us novice scenery designers.I would appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks........ 8)

Hi roswell. First of all I had to do a little detective work to see your shots. The path is case sensitive. This is how it should look. http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/Image%201.jpg
Image 1 is not exactly uncommon & could overwrite an existing image. It's best to use a unique file name with no spaces.

Now for your macro problem. I'm no expert scenery designer but I have messed around with FSSC since it was first released. it looks to me that either the default mesh or ground poly is showing the through the hangar floor. You mention adjusting the altitude. I would have thought raising the altitude of the hangar very slightly relative to the airport would fix it. Please tell me if this helps.

Thanks for the reply.I have tried adding 1 ft. in altitude but the hangar ends up elevated off the tarmac.A friend will send me an adjustable thin concrete slab that is suppose to solve the problem.I am doing trial and error on this .Too bad there is no published books on designing scenery.it would be helpfull to the novice designers....

Hi roswell. I was thinking of elevating it by something like 0.1 feet or less. Just enough to raise it off the offending poly. 1 foot would be quite a big jump & obviously cause problems. There are various scenery design tutes posted on different sites. FSSC is well supported & the latest version includes some good basic examples & tutes. You can also get help straight from the horse's mouth (Derek Leung himself) on the FSSC Support Forum. http://fssc.avsim.net/

PS. Oops. I see you've already been there. Tell me where to find this hangar macro & I'll mess around with it myself.

Hi roswell, hi all

We've all been there I'm afraid when we start with FSSC and Airport. Most of the macros that come with both progs are old (FS98??) and many give the problem you've found. They are great when you are learning but when you begin to make 'serious' scenery you have to discard quite a few and either search and download replacements or make your own using eg EOD. I've found even some 3rd party objects like radio towers have flickering bases that you just can't get rid of by playing around with alts.

I think I know the one and you'll probably find that the hangar with the problem isn't even texturised - it just has solid colours for the sides and roof which emphasises the 'old' point.

So what can you do? Not a lot apart from what I've said. You still seem to be a bit of a novice with the scenery design so my advice is (with respect and the best possible intentions) use this stuff to learn. Don't expect 'professional' results just yet. As you become more proficient and critical of your own work you will make demands on yourself and learn how to create your own stuff that doesn't have the problems you are talking about.

Sorry I can't be more helpful to give you a quick fix - but that's scenery design for you
