And modest too :-/

If you want to paint properly you will need to have a dedicated paint programme that supports layers..simple as that.

The programme you use sounds like a Jack of All Trades but is probably a master of none.

Already you are hitting problems simply because you are not painting with layers

Maybe try Gimp...not used it myself but it's popular and free.
