I've been wanting to repaint a King Air but I can't seem to find a blank texture for it. Is there one? Or can someone walk me through how to create one?

That's the FS2004 king air. If I were you, I'd open the default white paint scheme for the FSX king air, add a new layer to the image with the blending mode set to "multiply." You can then paint on that layer.

beech_King_air_1_t.dds is the one you want to open.

This is going to sound elementary, but I thought I could open it with Photoshop CS3, what do I need to open and modify it?

Download DXTBmp. Once it is installed, open the beech_King_air_1_t.dds. Before you edit the image, we need to change your editing program to CS3. Go to the menu bar and click Prefs > Select Editor. Browse for the Photoshop.exe in your program files folder. Once the editor has been set, open the beech_King_air_1_t.dds file by either double clicking it, or go to Image > Send to Editor. Then CS3 will open ans you can start editing. Once you are finished editing, merge the layers down so that the image is "one layer." Click Save and close CS3. Now, in DXTBmp, go to Image > Reload After Edit. You should now see your new texture. Now go to File > Save As > DDS Texture. Save it to your desktop for ease. Remember to use the same file name! (beech_King_air_1_t) Then I think you know how to install it, but if you still need help, let me know.

[color=#000000]There is a way around using a paint kit, but it is extra work, depending on the textures. First, make a copy of one of the textures, preferably one that is not too complicated. Rename it and paste it into the aircraft folder. Then open that in DXTBmp and start changing all the off colors to the same as the base color. I use the Replacer tool in PSP. You will probably have to change the background color with the dropper several times and maybe even do some small paintbrush editing. But you will end up with a solid color aircraft. Now you can use it as you would a paint kit.
If you are just getting started in repaints, a little advice. Always check the alpha channel, as it often has a different setting for certain parts, especially the numbers. Some people prefer the numbers not to reflect. If you don't remove/color over these in the same shade as the rest, you will have the old numbers/design show up behind what you painted. I have done a couple where I actually copied the main texture and pasted it on a layer above the alpha after removing the previous so that the reflectivity was the same as before. But I usually just let the numbers reflect. It is mostly personal preference except sometimes they don't show up well when they are set to reflect. Depends on the color scheme. Hope this helps you. A lot of it is trial and error. And you usually remember better when you have erred and corrected.
