Saving .eps file in Photoshop

Postby aussiewannabe » Sun Sep 27, 2009 4:04 pm

I have a logo that has a white background that I'm going to remove. It's ready to be saved.

When it comes to Save As I have 4 options:
Dicom (*.DCM; *.DC3; *.DIC_
Large Document File (.PDW)
Photoshop Raw (*.RAW)
TIFF (*.TIF; *.TIFF)

Obviously the first two aren't the ones I would the save the logo.

I've tried the TIFF one and ended up with a file that ends up as 2 GB. The original .eps file is only 24kb.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

I've just downloaded an .EPS logo, and tried to save it - I had several options, including JPG and PSD.

I usually save files at PSD, so I have no idea why PSD hasn't appeared for you.

Check your color mode. (Image -> Mode) PS limits your choice of file based on the color mode you're using... i.e. CMYK mode won't save to .png (just an example, not strictly accurate)

I suspect you must be in CMYK mode or something... you should be using RGB for anything that's not going to be printed.

A good file format that's light and will hold transparency (alpha channel) is .png (although you will need to convert to DXT bmp or .dds to use in FS)

Hope this helps

Cheers

I use PNG because that usually keeps the effects and colors and is less pixely. But I use it for making forum tags. Though, I still recommend it. But remember to save the original PSD.
