Opening DDS Files

Hey guys,
Wanted to screw around with repainting a little bit to see how far I could get. I wanted to open one of the DDS files from a default FSX plane in Photoshop, but Photoshop doesn't recognize DDS files on it's own. Does anybody know where I could get a plugin so I could open and save DDS files?
Thanks, Ferrari

DXTBMP is how you open these. Save to a diff type of file to edit

Ok, I got it working. Thanks for your help.
Another question: I am just testing different things on the default FSX Caravan. I am wondering if I can paint over the windows? Is this not possible since the windows are modelled into the airplane instead of being just a texture like the default 738 or 744? Any help is appriciated.

your lucky I do all prop repaints. ;)
The windows on the Caravan are the blue things at the bottom you could keep a standrad background color for them then write over them then alpha the background but I doubt it would turn out well

It might not be pretty, but I suppose it's good practice. However, that was a little confusing. I see the windows on the texture file (green things at the top), you're saying to go over those with a background color (white in this case). What should I do with the alpha?

Leave it alone!
The shade of gray in the Alpha channel is what controls the transparency of the "glass." Mess with it at your own peril... ;D

Im not advanced with the alpha. I just shade them a color and alpha that to make them transparent....
