Can you use GIMP to repaint aircraft?

You can even use MS Paint (but GIMP! is better)
The "key" to repainting is not so much the painting program you use, but the texture converter. Either imagetool.exe (from Microsoft) or DXTBMP (from Martin Wright) will work.
