You'll need Imagetool

http://www.projectopensky.com/files/ind ... getool.exe

or dxtbmp

http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/pr ... dxtbmp.htm

to convert the textures from dxt3 to 24bit (thats a normal bmp to you and me), and back to dxt3 (OR 32BIT) - common formats that FS will read -  once your done.

Other than that you can use ANY graphics editor you like! From paint to PSP.  :)

Need any more help, just shout.  :)

Click the link at the bottom of this message for a tutorial on how to repaint one of the stock planes (Extra 300), the same method works for any other repaints too.

Just a quick append to my post. If your only just starting to repaint. DONT try to learn using the default ones.

You'll find it (quite) hard to find all the parts, and then you'll be frustrated when you find a set of parts that use all use the same texture so that when you put text on one part, it appears on a few parts on the plane. (That said, the Extra 300 is one of the better defaults in that respect, you just gotta find everything now  ;)

My advice, use the aicraft from here: www.pmstone.com

They are simple, but not un-realistic, and guess what, each one comes with blank textures for you to work onto, no messing  :D

Good luck  :D

You can't go wrong with a Mike Stone design...
