Trying to do my first 'proper' repaint useing a kit and Adobe Photoshop. It's the first time i've used PS and I can't believ how HARD it is to use! The help is next to useless don't you think?

Anyway, by trial and error, i've got the jist of it but have hit a wall. I've done the engines and tail fine but the fusalage needs to be split into three sections after you've painted it before it will format properly.

No probs, found how to 'Ctrl+C', etc. the first time and lined them up on the template. All worked but after seeing it on the plane, I wanted to change something. So went back to the original fussalage i'd done, changed the offending item and went to copy it to the template.

Problem is, when I highlight the section I want and press Ctrl+C, it says 'it cannot copy because the selected field is empty'! ARRGGHH! I can see the pic right in front of me, WHAT am I doing wrong?

Any help gratefully recieved, i've been on this for 8 hours and have no hair left to pull out!

The world's best photo-editing program gives this message because you (or should I say YOU) did not select the Layer upon which the item you (selected)

Thanks for that. I'm sure it's a great tool and know that many proffesionals use it. However, to someone like me that is used to MS Paint, it takes some working out!

Anyway, I've found out what the problem was. The bit of picture I was trying to copy was still in PS format, after saving as a bmp I can now copy the required bit's to the pemplate that comes with the repaint kit for this AC. (why, oh, why does the fussalage need to be split into three bits anyway?) Phew, just proves that a good nights sleep does help! ;)

Welcome to the wonderful and frustrating world of layers.
I have been useing PSP for 3 years and am just now hang of layers and masking.

When you get used to the program, you will never want to change it. It becomes so easy then, you would never believe it. ...

I've been using Photoshop for about 15 years now and I still haven't grasped it all, but if you are working on clear acetate layers it might help you get used to the layer thing.
