The MDL file is the file containing the 3D object so it really has nothing to do with texturing unless you want to change the texture names the model calls for.

It can't be edited. Opening can be done by a Hex editor, but you won't be able to find anything useful unless you understand some "MDL language".....

It's already "Cracked". That's why we have AF99, and FSDS, and MdlDisAs, and MDL to BGL and all.

It's only that there is no way to import an MDL to an editor.

snip-Please ignore references to Pixia for now as I'm having problems with it. -snip

Grumpy what kind of problems are you having with Pixia? I'm just curious cause it's what I use and I've not had any problems with it.

Well Dakota, it's not so much a problem. I agree Pixia is an excellent program but I'm so familiar with PSP I'm finding it heavy going. As I would like to use Pixia in my repainting tute I need to spend more time on it.
I don't like recommending something without being able to support it.

Thanks for your interest. Biggles uses it too so I know where to come for advice.  ;)

Cliff13,
Don't give up. You really only need a paint program and be able to access the original texture files in a bmp format you can re-paint.
No need to get involved in MDL's etc etc.

I can't believe this old thread has been resurrected after all this time. The original question was posted on Mar 7th, 2002. I had quite a shock to find that I replied to it under my old name of Grumpy1. Haven't used that for about 3 years. :o

Hey, anybody have the user name/registration key of MdlDisAs?

Since it has been revived I'll answer this. To the best of my knowledge MdlDisAs never needed a registration key. What did you want to use it for?

PS. You can hex edit a MDL file for various reasons & it can be very useful. There's a free hex editor named Frhed posted somewhere in the Design section.
