File Conversion

I'm trying to repaint aircraft for FS9 and I'm having a problem with file conversions. What is the best one to use and where can I get it?

I have a question with DXTBMP.

I'm trying to repaint Rey Lopez's C-5. I open the file in DXT. Send it to my paint editor and do what I need to do. When I go to save the file back how do I know which type to use?

The original textures are 1026KB and I can't seem to get my repainted ones back down to that size?

I'm looking through the readme but can't find it at all ???

When you open the original textures in DXTBmp the format should be displayed at bottom left of the screen. It's best to save modified textures in the original format if possible. The FS9 default textures are in "DXT3 with Alpha" Extended BMP format. Not all 3rd party textures use this format or the Alpha Channel.
