one question i dont want to pay for paint shop pro so will the MS paint shop work on making new aircraft paints???

Most graphics editors will do. It really depends on your skill in using them. M$ Paint is not ideal for repainting textures. Try Pixia posted in the Utilities section here or PhotoPlus 5.5

Both excellent freeware programs.

I have used microsoft paint to change id numbers on certain aircraft but thats about all its good for.paint shop pro is the way to go.if this is what you really want to do.

Get the demo that is free.

When it runs out just roll the clock on your comp back a year and use it again.  Don't forget to set it back though.

Paintshop Pro is definitely the way to go.  (Unless you're feeling like dropping the cash for Photoshop.  lol)

You've just gotta have layers.  It makes life so much easier!

Which ones better? Adobe Photoshop is for the simple reason of the shear volume of plug-in filters which are available. However Paint Shop Pro is an exellent program also (I own both). If the main thing you want to do is model re-painting and basic photo editing, then go for Paint Shop Pro for the simple reason it is cheaper.

"Most" Photoshop plug-ins will work with Paint Shop Pro 8.

Search the computer graphics magazines, because from time to time they have included PSP5.0 - full version - as a teaser to get you to upgrade to PSP7/8.

Of the two freeware programs I mentioned, Photoplus 5.5 is more like PSP. The user interface is very similar. I've not used Adobe Photoshop but I think Pixia is more based on that. Both have similar advanced features like Layers.

There is no trial version of FSDS, possibly for the reason mentioned. Nobody in their right mind would post a fully-functional free trial of their commercial software if it can be abused.

I wouldn't abandon MS Paint completely as it has a very useful curve function that I use often on the nose of aircraft before finishing off my paint job by switching over to the more sophisticated Photoshop.

You can say that "Paint Shop Pro and DXTBMP are all you'll ever need", but gee, then you see that MSPaint has this widget, and pixia has this other, but Corel Draw/PHotopaint 3 has this ... and then ...

I normally switch between MS Paint, PSP and Pixia
