Welcome to SimV.

Check the Repainting forum for all the info you could ever need.
Don't be surprised if this thread gets moved there anyways.

Hi King_J. Basically you will need DXTBmp to convert the textures. Latest version here.

Full details of the various FS texture formats are included in DXTBmp Help. The rest is down to experience & your own expertise with PSP7. ;)

Whoa! Complex!

Does anyone know of a 3D Program that can modify textures ( Freeware ). That would make repainting a whole lot easier!!!!

Thanks :D

Here's a good tutorial that walks goes through repainting using PSP7.  I'm currently using it to learn how to repaint and I have no experience with PSP or repainting before and it seems like its well written and easy to understand (for the beginner).  I deffinately reccomend it.

I wish life was so easy. I've been trying to find an "easier" way to repaint for the last few years. I'm not an artist!

Recently moved from Photoshop ( couldn't even draw lines!!) to PSP7 and it's much easier - a bit like the old familiar PSP3 I used for FS99 models.

The trick is to get the image into a file format you can read, Martin Wright's programs are the only way to go.

Then unfortunately the hard work ( or should I say, the challenge commences). Separating as much of the detail to various layers helps - remember the base layer should be copied to allow erasing to a transparent background, practise.......

ps WWII planes with non symmetrical camoflage and panel line match up, have got to be the ultimate.
