I'm currently repainting the default Corsair in fs2k2 into personalised racing colours. I am using Dxtbmp and Adobe Photoshop 6 and have two questions/problems.
1) The American Star insignia comes up and I can't find a Bmp to edit to remove this.
2) How do I add personalised lettering so that it displays sensibly on the aircraft.
Cheers.
Will

Will, The FS2002 Corsair is straight out of CFS2. Look in the FS2002\Texture folder for decal_insignia_d0.bmp & decal_insignia_t0.bmp. These are the damaged & clean insignia respectively. Paste copies into the Texture folder of your repaint. You can either repaint them or make them transparent. You might not need to change the damaged one.
The CFS2/FS2002 default textures are mirrored. Anything painted on one side will be reversed on the other. The only way for personalised markings to display properly would be to use letters like A, I. O, T, & numbers 0, 8, etc.

Thanks Hagar!
Can I not change the decals to display the lettering of my choice? Where is the information that I need to change to alter the position of these decals? (if you get what I mean.

Hi Will. The position of those decals is defined in the MDL file. I don't think it's possible to move them. It might be better to make them transparent & paint the markings on the main texture instead. They only put the insignia on the wings. The fuselage markings are on the main texture itself.
